Deck and Porch Construction in Westmoreland County

A good deck gets used. The bad ones get looked at from inside the house. We build decks that get used.

§ 01

Outdoor Living, Built to Last

For more than ten years, we have been designing and building decks, porches, and outdoor spaces across Latrobe, Greensburg, Ligonier, and the rest of Westmoreland County. We work in all the common materials including pressure-treated lumber, composite (Trex, TimberTech, AZEK), and hardwoods like ipe and cedar. We can do simple ground-level decks, multi-level builds, screened porches, pergolas, and full outdoor entertaining setups.

§ 02

What We Build

  • New deck construction (any size, any material)
  • Deck replacements and tear-downs
  • Composite deck installation
  • Pressure-treated and hardwood decks
  • Covered porches and screen porches
  • Pergolas and shade structures
  • Outdoor stairs and railings
  • Built-in benches and planters
  • Deck lighting (low voltage and integrated)
  • Repair and refinishing of existing decks
§ 03

Composite or Wood: Which Should You Pick?

This is the question we get asked the most.

Pressure-treated wood is the budget-friendly option. It looks great when new, costs the least up front, and lasts 15 to 20 years if you stain and seal it every couple of years. The downside is the maintenance.

Composite (Trex and similar) costs more up front but you basically never have to do anything to it. No staining, no sealing, no splinters. Lifespan is 25 to 30 years or more.

Hardwoods like ipe and cedar split the difference. Beautiful, durable, low maintenance, but expensive.

§ 04

What It Costs

Decks generally run between $30 and $60 per square foot installed in our area, depending on materials and complexity. A simple 200 square foot pressure-treated deck might come in around $8,000. A larger composite deck with built-in features and lighting can run $25,000 or more.

§ 05COMMON QUESTIONS
01Do I need a permit for a new deck?+

Most municipalities in Westmoreland County require a permit for decks attached to the house or over a certain height. We handle the permit process for you.

02How long does it take to build a deck?+

Most residential decks take one to three weeks from start to finish, weather permitting. Larger or multi-level projects can take longer.

03What time of year is best for a deck project?+

Spring through fall is ideal, but we build decks year-round when weather cooperates. Winter projects can actually move faster because our schedule has more flexibility.

04Will my new deck come with a warranty?+

Yes. Composite manufacturers typically warranty their materials for 25 years or more. We warranty our installation work for one year.
